Final Tutorial Poster

Using a Peanutbutter and Jelly color scheme and simple illustrations, I was able to create a fun and informative poster that is easy to read and eye-catching. In addition to the colors and illustrations I honed my design layout skills with clear verbage to easily follow the step-by-step process to making a delicious sandwich!

Advocacy Flyers

Below a case study of my work for ACT UP NY, an AIDS Awareness Organization that has been around since the 1980s. This project showcases the importance of a well-designed flyer to speak to your intended audiences.

Final ACT UP NY Flyer

(Version 1)

After researching the history of the AIDS Epidemic in the United States, I knew exactly what direction to take for this series of posters. Looking at influential artists during the 1980s, Keith Haring, stuck out to me the most. Replicating his well-known iconography and adding my own elements, such as the condom, showcases the long and grueling history of the epidemic. Not only was Haring an influential artist but an activist for queer rights and a victim of AIDS. Using a cohesive theme of Haring's work and ACT UP NY's mission to raise awareness, I used bright colors and additional elements to mimic both the artist and the organization. The poster has a narrative layout, in which it states the problem at the top, demands a solution, and provides resources on how to take action.
